WMS Reports for E-Resources Usage (COUNTER)

PALNI Libraries: Use Toolkit Template "Consolidated COUNTER 5 Metrics for ACRL Survey Template 2023" (Includes COUNTER 5 TR_B1, TR_J1, IR_M1, and TR_J3 for libraries including OA usage.)

Standard Reports: WMS COUNTER 5 Merged E-Journal/E-Book Usage Summary; COUNTER 5 Multimedia/Journal Article Usage Summary

Note: subscription to License Manager and setup of SUSHI harvesting is required to use WMS COUNTER 5 reports. Libraries wishing to use License Manager usage harvesting should visit the SUSHI Configuration and COUNTER Harvesting in WMS License Manager LibGuide provided by Lisa Gonzalez: https://libguides.palni.edu/sushicounter

 

How to Report Digital/Electronic Usage Data from COUNTER 5:

TR_B1: unique title requests

TR_J1: unique item requests

IR_M1: total item requests

*ACRL will auto-calculate 61A and 61B to produce 61C which will be total generated for IPEDS export file

 

Refer to ACRL/IPEDS instructions. Include notes on the survey as appropriate when using non-COUNTER data.

61A. If COUNTER 5 data is not available for an electronic book/media resource, use other vendor reported data. If entering non-COUNTER statistics, include a note.

61B. E-serials data from all sources, COUNTER 5, 4, or proprietary vendor data.

COUNTER 5 (Toolkit)

WMS Report Designer > Reports > Report Launch Pad > 2.1 PAL2 > Annual Survey Tookit > Consolidated COUNTER 5 Metrics for ACRL Survey Template 2023

The template runs TR_B1, TR_J1, TR_J3 (includes OA usage), and IR_M1 usage summaries for the date range prompted in a single report.

Once run, we recommend you save a local copy of this template to repeat annually.

COUNTER 5 (Standard)

If using Standard reports, you will need to run both individually:

  • COUNTER 5 Merged E-Journal/E-Book Usage Summary
  • COUNTER 5 Multimedia/Journal Article Usage Summary

Go to WMS Analytics > Reports > E-Resources Reports.

Select the COUNTER 5 Merged E-Journal/E-Book Usage Summary report.

Enter the Begin Date and End Date according to your fiscal year [Format YYYY-MM]

Sample Output:

Go to WMS Analytics > Reports > E-Resources Reports.

Select the COUNTER 5 Multimedia Usage Summary report.
