Scholarly Communications: Open Educational Resources/Affordable Education

What are Open Education Resources?

The cost of textbooks has been skyrocketing for college students over the last decade. Universities, colleges, and individual professors are beginning to turn to OERs to help mitigate the high cost of class materials. The goal of OERs is to provide high-quality educational materials, accessible online for free in lieu of expensive physical textbooks that will be obsolete in short order.

PALNI's Affordable Education Initiatives Task Force

The Affordable Education Initiatives (AEI) Task Force will assess needs related to open/affordable education, begin definition of a PALNI-wide AEI program, and determine ongoing support for such a program. AEI is a joint effort of ScholComm and Instructional Tech.
